MAD woMEN
Lately my addiction with the AMC show Mad Men has spread to a yen for all things 60s. From bouffant hair to sunburst clocks, I can’t get enough. But its the women’s (and even mens’!) wardrobes that I am really lusting after. From Betty Draper’s confectionary party dresses to Joan’s va-va-voom sweaters, the women look so ultra-feminine. In searching for pieces, I’m drawn to these riding boots from Corso Como, Marilyn Monroe-esque red lipstick, and these gold heels. Now all I need is a pair of elbow length white gloves….

Panic at the Disco: What to be for Halloween?
As it appears to be late September out of nowhere, I have begun actively brainstorming what to be for everyone’s favorite fall holiday – Halloween. Something cute but not too promiscuous, timely but not overly complicated, easily recognizable but clever… a tough assignment! Favorite costumes throughout the years have included Carmen Miranda (try a pair of espadrilles) or His Girl Friday (sheer black tights, 40s pumps – try these, a black suit and netted pillbox hat, and, of course, witty repartee all night). But I am at a loss this year… what to be? I need your help!! Any ideas/favorite past costumes/funny stories??

Baby it’s cold outside
Normally I eschew the admirably practical strategy of ‘dressing for the weather.’ I just can never seem to bear covering up an outfit with a yellow school-bus poncho or looking down and seeing duck boots on my feet. Two years ago, I assented and bought what I thought was a relatively stylish white puffy coat from Theory. I asked my sister for her take: “you look okay, just kind of the like the Michelin Man. Or maybe more like the gigantic marshmellow man from Ghostbusters.” Hmmm….
But recently I think I may have been converted by the amazing weather wear I’ve been seeing. For starters, I’m obsessed with the new raincoats from Mackage. Sleek, shiny, and they fold up into a tiny bag. I’m almost hoping it will rain… For umbrellas, I’m partial to these clear bubble offerings from Frankford. Very Lost-in-Translation-esque. Last but not least, my go-to winter footwear are these boots from Hunter. Classic wellies with fleece socks inside? Maybe my middle name is practical.

Shoe of the Moment
We are in love with these new Dani boots from 80%20 (so named because we wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time). They combine the short punky boot we’ve been seeing everywhere with a hidden wedge heel. It’s magic! We think they’d look dynamite with sweater tights and a long sleeve jersey dress or a pair of cropped trousers.
