Blue state, red state; blue shoe, red shoe??

Although I wouldn’t go so far as to count a presidential nominee’s fashion sense as an important factor, one can’t deny that a candidate’s wardrobe does have some resonance. Al Gore’s sweaters, Hillary’s pantsuits, Sarah Palin’s eyeglasses? Beyond the nominees, however, I’m wondering about voters. Is there a particular style more common among Republicans than Democrats? One could perhaps argue that the former is more “conservative” or “traditional” than the latter — sweater sets v flannel shirts, perhaps –but is that just a worn-out stereotype? (After all, as Colin Powell and Joe Lieberman have shown, maybe sometimes a label is just a label…) And, how does that translate into footwear? For example, I wonder if Republican customers are more drawn to classic brands like Delman and French Sole, while liberals favor local labels like Manimals or Toms. Share your thoughts (if you feel comfortable that is, of course…)!

“Mawwiage is…”

So, I’ve been to several weddings in the last few months and watched the Princess Bride last night (hence the post title…), and I got to thinking about wedding attire. I confess, I’m not very au courant in terms of bridal footwear.  What do people wear?  White, shoes matched to their dress, flats, high heels?  What about ceremony v reception? We’ve had a few women over the years write in to tell us they were buying Barefoot Tess shoes for their wedding (which we LOVE), but I want to know what you think.  Are there any shoes we have currently that you think would be appropriate?  (Even better, have you worn any for the walk down the aisle?!)  I recently saw this stunning dress on one of my favorite blogs – Brooklyn Bride – and think i can picture it with one of these shoes.  thoughts?
